I like this place. I eat here often. The food is good and the beer is always cold. The best thing on the menu is the pizza. it's all good. But the pizza is king. This place is an extremely heavy local spot so expect townies, and townie wives.. and sometimes their children cant be helped. but if you like a cozy place for a pint or a one on one dinner. It's pretty good. Get there early however because those town lots fill up fast and people stay parked there for hours, and hours.and they almost never leave..

Solid lunch spot. Everything we ate was down right delicious. Service was attentive, good atmosphere, great pub. The loaded nachos with buffalo chicken was amazing (great buffalo chicken btw). Only a few nits keeping it from being a 5 star pub, burger was well done asked for med-rare, and food came out right after the app, so there was food everywhere. I wouldn't hesitate to come back, in fact I'm sure I will.

This place is a classic pub, and I'd kill to have it in my neighborhood. The exterior and interior have spot-on English pub finishes, with that nice dark, warm looking interior. My fiance and future in-laws went to Paddy's Pub on a Friday evening. Even though I had read the Yelp reviews, I still thought it was going to be a semi dive-y place just from the name. Boy was I mistaken. We walked into a crowded front bar area and after asking a staff member how we get a table, they pointed us to the manager. When we were told it would be about a 20 minute wait we said no problem, we'll grab a beer from the bar. They had a nice draft selection, and it was pretty easy to get the bartenders attention. We were standing around chatting and 10 minutes after putting our name down we were getting seated. We were there at a normal dinner hour , but noticed the clientele was a little older. It was actually a nice atmosphere because it wasn't too loud and seemed like it was a place to enjoy a meal/dinner and good conversation with your tablemates. The menu was exhaustive and it felt like the pub was stuck between an Irish and Italian identify with traditional entrees of Shepard's pie and Chicken Parm. The waitress gave a few recommendations but they were all over the place so a couple of us go a risotto special, I got the fish and chips, and maybe someone got the Shepard's pie. When the food was delivered we were shocked by the portions - they were huge!! 3 of the 4 of us had leftovers. The risotto was really good - creamy and flavorful - though it lost some of that flavor as a leftover. The fish and chips were perfect - big pieces of lightly breaded fish - and tasty french fries. We left with full bellies and happy. And the prices seemed pretty good. Definitely a place we'll take the 'rents to for dinner, or maybe have a bite to eat in the front bar area ourselves.

This is my all time favorite restaurant in the Waltham/Newton area. I used to work at home...and I would go to this place 2-3 times a week! I also make sure to bring out of town visitors here whenever I can. Irish pubs are a dime a dozen in the Boston area. But there is just something about this place that makes it stand out above the rest! It is NOT a typical pub, and the food is OUTSTANDING! Atmosphere: Upscale Irish Pub. The staff is friendly, but not too bothersome. The service is excellent. The bar and dining areas are very beautiful and cozy. Food: Excellent pub good, The Killkenny steak tips are absolutely incredible. The Shepard's Pie, is the same. The burgers are GREAT. They have the wide fries (chip style) that I love. They even have good PIZZA! Beer: Call me boring but I always get a harpoon IPA. Regardless of the time, busy or slow, lunch, or dinner, It is ALWAYS served perfectly in a chilled glass. It is my favorite place to get a pint in the greater Boston Area.
This pub has a great selection of drinks and food. Fair prices. Food is fairly great, not amazing. Kind staff. However, they did tell us our wait would be 20 minutes...60 minutes later...we were seated. A nice place to go for dinner, where you can sit and relax. I would go back again....and be prepared to wait.

Aside from the fact that the nacho's were about as close to perfection as nacho's can get, I won't be going back here. It was my first (and last) visit. Until Saturday, I had never seen such a collective group of surly waitstaff in one place. The hostess was extremely rude and the wait staff literally stood there with their arms folded across their chests in protest, as people came into the place. We had just run a 5K nearby and the people at "The Local" (formerly RJ Crowley's), who had sponsored the 5K, decided to kick everyone out at 4, so they could prepare for dinner. (I'm still unclear as to the logic of turning away a bunch of appetizer & alcohol business in favor your early bird diners?) Anyway, "The Local's" loss is Paddy's gain, right? Wrong! You would think they'd be happy to have a fair amount of people stop in on what would otherwise be a dreadfully slow afternoon, but nope. It's not as though they were understaffed either. And not that it really matters but the 5K crowd wasn't a bunch of rowdy college kids either - it was mostly an over 30 crowd. So, although the food was good (which is why I'm being generous with the 3-stars), I just could not get past how poorly the staff behaved. At one point, my friend just laughed out loud and said "Why are these people are so mean?" That about sums it up.

I have been here what seems like a thousand times but I have finally decided to write a review. When shy away from my go to dish is it never as good as the before. There is a good selection on the menu to choose from so there is something for everyone. The rolls they bring out are always crispy warm and delicious. The service is always quick and friendly and the food comes out quick. The ambiance is warm and cozy and always a lively place. I will continue to come back to this neighborhood place!

Fun place to go. If you're looking for a home bar and live nearby this would be a good candidate. Coming from Auburndale I have to laugh because "there's no way to get there from here". The road splits to the left or the right but not straight ahead onto Elm Street. Not a big problem, taking a right works. I have never had any poor quality moments at this establishment in food, drink or fun!

Please don't let my 3 star review deceive you. My visit to Paddy's Pub in West Newton, MA was a wonderful experience. The inside seemed clean and comfortable and the service was attentive and helpful. The food at Paddy's Pub is traditional Irish Pub food... and luckily for me.. that is exactly what I was looking for. Burgers, Onion Rings, Shepard's Pie, Chicken Pot Pie... Paddy's is an Irish Pub true and true... and the experience we had was all the better for it. The burgers were above average with a heavy emphasis on above. Served up extremely juicy and cooked to a perfect mid-well perfection. My cohort however ordered her burger well done and she got hers... a perfect mid-well perfection. Which.. didn't seem to bother her all that much. It was nothing to complain about because she isn't one of those people that is completely turned off by the pink center.. but, if you order a burger a certain way (especially well done) it should come a certain way. Onion Rings were standard fair and their pizza offers a wonderful crispy crust and loads of toppings. Their menu has lots of wonderful beers on tap and again I can't praise the comfort level of their dining room enough. Though I have only been to Paddy's Place once I walked away with the feeling that... if I went to Paddy's Place I would know exactly what I was getting every time. There is something admirable about consistency and I feel that Paddy's Place is one of those places that you can go to and get a very good meal to accompany your draft of choice. A very good experience and worth checking out.

Paddy's is a great neighborhood spot with friendly service, great food and drinks. It's on the smaller side, so be prepared to wait for bar seating or table service during rush times. We sat at the bar once seats opened up and stayed for a few hours hanging out, eating and drinking. The waitstaff are polite, make you laugh and are very consistent with service. I had the beer corn beef sandwich (forget the name) and it was to die for! Had melted swiss and horseradish sauce - yum yum yuum. Friend had the dennisport salad, which was amazing as well.

Very rarely do I buy gift card to restaurants as presents. This holiday season I gave out a few Paddy's gift cards. I really enjoy the bar scene here, they have great chex mix out. A few small TVs that are perfect for watching the Pats. The bartenders are always attentive and very interactive, the people that frequent the bar are just as fun as watching the game. I've had the grilled cheese, shepard's pie and various other items off the menu. But my all time favorite is the buffalo chicken pizza. I live about 20 minutes away and will drive over to get take out. Everything has been delicous, never disappointed. It can be crowded but worth the wait/shuffle. Try a Magner's Pear Cider!

Recognized the menu and asked the waitress if this pub was related to O'Hara's- it is!...having had a mediocre experience at O'Hara's recently, were looking on yelp for another pub in the area to try. Pleasantly surprised! the atmosphere is nicer, more pub like than O'Haras, the wait staff is really pleasant, and even though the same hostess we encountered at O'Haras was working at Paddys pub, she seemed to have had a little attitude adjustment, almost pleasant-a pleasant surprise. Have to say the food was much better than O'Hara's. The seared haddock served on risotto was very good, as was the monterey turkey burger- onion rings outstanding. We did not have to wait for a table, and really enjoyed the meal. Will definitely drive past O'Haras to return to Paddy's pub.

Don't be deterred by the crowd, the line moves quickly! It's never taken more than 20 minutes for a table, even when the place is packed. Great food, live music and staff! We came here for a friend's birthday, having always wanted to try this place and were not disappointed. When we arrived, the dining area was packed, but we were seated within 10 minutes of putting our name in with the host. He sort of stands at the end of the wall which divides the bar area and the dining area. The bar is very nice looking and comfortable. Not the sort where one in their 20s would go at night to have a good time, but where you could go to relax, have a nice drink and chat with a few friends for a couple of hours with no yelling required. Me and the birthday girl got the Irish Shephard's Pie. Fantastic. I'm not the biggest fan of cut carrots, and there were a lot of them, but they didn't detract from the dish and didn't stop me from polishing off the plate. (don't judge me? i hadn't eaten all day?) The seating seems as though it would be a little cramped but was actually really comfortable. You didn't have the feeling like your conversation was going farther from your own table, bothering others, and it seemed likewise for other tables as well. One of the parties at our table ordered a medium burger because, as was his experience, such an order normally turns up medium well. This was not the case here. The burger came as ordered, to his surprise and approval. Another diner's plate of ravioli was also satisfactorily polished off. The non-fried version, that is.

Right when you walk you are greeted by such friendly staff who are ready to seat you. As you walk through you can hear the sound of live folk-type music that fills the pub and the ambiance is just like something out of Cheers. As for the food, they just had too many options to choose from and it made it difficult to pick just one thing for a meal. I got a caprese salad and crab cakes. All were delicious and you can taste how fresh the ingredients were. The crab cakes were packed with flavor and probably one of the best I've had. The soups were great, but the clam chowder was a bit too salty. Overall the portions were more than reasonable and you will certainly leave feeling full and satisfied. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their menu options!

Nice atmosphere, OK food. The wraps and salad I've had were very tasty, but the hot meals I've had have been hit or miss. It's the same with the service. Some nights the staff have been friendly (I don't always expect super fast since this is a busy popular place, but they've never been noticeably slow) but sometimes you feel like you're annoying them by being there. It seems like if you're a regular you get paid a lot of attention though. I'd come back here because of the atmosphere and because when it's good it's very good, but it's not top of my list.

Came here with two friends last night for a few rounds of Guinness and some food. Lets start with the drinks. The Guinness was fantastic, well poured, served in the proper glass, and tasted right (my fellow Guinness drinkers know how important this is). For food, we got the plain no-meat nachos, and they were sizzling and fantastic, I don't know what kind of cheese they used, but it was fantastic! I got the fish and chips for an entree, and they were just fantastic! The fish was well breaded, but not too thick, you could tell it was fresh. The fries (chips) were thick, but well cooked and not too hard. Nice atmosphere and friendly/fun staff, I would highly recommend this place for good drinks, good food and a good time. Will definitely frequent here often!

Good lunch crowd there! My partner and I had business in the area and stopped in for a bite to eat. Good service, good food and good place to talk things over. Definitely good place for comfort food. Liz took care of us just right. On the way in, you pass the bar area before you come upon the dining section. They can probably fit one large group, but most of the tables fit 2-4 persons. There were plenty of metered parking when we were there.

Paddy's (formally Paddy O's) in West Newton is a staple in the neighborhood, and is consistently one of the most crowded restaurants in the area (even on typically "off" nights Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). They have an extensive Irish menu, as well as some other non-traditional options, such as a gluten-free section among other rotating specials, (and surprisingly good pizza) and contrary to many of its Irish pub counterparts, the dining room is typically still crowded through the night when regulars typically occupy the bar. They have fairly standard draft beer options (couple of Sam's, Harpoons, domestic, Irish...) for the Boston area, and a full bar, though much of the emphasis at Paddy's remains on the menu. Additionally, each October, they put on the "shillelagh shuffle", a road race to benefit the Newton Special Athlete's Foundation, a tradition that dates back to 2002.

I go to school in the area and must visit Paddy's about once a week solely to get their Buffalo Chicken Nachos. Seriously, the best buffalo chicken I have ever had. All their food is delicious as well. Their beer selection is good too, but a little pricey. It can get pretty busy and there is not a lot of seating, so keep that in mind if your going during prime time.

This is one of my favorite local bars/restaurants. I've been to this place about 20 times on different days of the week and I have never seen a bar so consistently packed. The only real downside to Paddy's is the mediocre wait staff, and the fact that its so packed all the time. The waitstaff is mediocre to poor in my experience. One of my male waiters was so bad one night it sort of ruined my experience. He never asked us if we wanted drinks, he never asked us if we wanted more drinks, he never asked us if we needed anything, never asked us if we wanted to bill. We just had to flag him down every time we wanted something and he didn't say one word to us. Just one word answers, yes, no, ok, be right back, etc. Probably the worst waiter I have ever had. The bartenders are solid (although, have fun getting a seat at the bar.....ever) and the guy who runs the place and does the seating is nice and on point. The atmosphere is very cozy and the food has been very good every time I have eaten there. There is ample parking in the street, around the corner, and across the street in the municipal lots but if you go between 5-8 you might have trouble finding a spot because this place is so consistently packed . They have some sort of function room upstairs but it is unused. It perplexes me as to why they don't turn this upstairs into another full bar and seating area. They would double their business and appease way more customers. I have attempted to go there several times where it was so packed I just turned around and walked out. Not a good thing for customers, But, a good thing for them as it shows they are running a good restaurant, have tons of repeat customers , and are making some money. That said, overall the food and cozy atmosphere make me love this place but the constantly packed atmosphere detracts a little bit. Owner of Paddy's listen up: , Fire most of your waiters and spend a little money and turning the upstairs into a full service bar and seating area. If your in the area, check it out. side note: O'Hara's is their sister bar with the same exact menu and food source.

When a co-worker suggested we go here for lunch I was expecting your typical pub fare, but not so- Paddy's has a great selection of unique sandwiches and entrees at reasonable prices. I had the chicken pot pie, served in a sourdough bread bowl after our server said it was a house specialty- very good. Clean and cozy atmosphere. The only thing that even slightly put me off was that when we walked in there was a group ahead of us waiting to be seated (with the majority of the dining room open) and 3 of the wait staff stood around until the hostess came out and sat the groups that were waiting. All and all a good experience though, and we'll certainly be back!

I should take away a star from myself for not trying this place sooner. Great pub feel, awesome staff, great table by the window on a busy Friday night. We arrived around 7:30PM. The host was very nice, and we were seated in about 10 minutes. I love good pub grub, and this place is stellar. Chicken capri sandwich, a huge piece of salmon, Mark West Pinot Noir, with dirty martini chasers. So good! So cheap! I am taking the hubby back here next week end since he is the king of pub grub. Found out about Paddy's about 5 years ago and have been a huge fan ever since. For an Irish pub, they sure do a fantastic job with many types of food. Absolute fave dish is the Chicken Au Porto - chicken parm with a layer of eggplant, artichokes, tomato slices, and lots of cheese. (Not something I eat often for obvious health reasons...though I do opt for some steamed broccoli instead of pasta on the side.) They change their menu items seasonally, but if you ask for that one by name they will always make it for you. They also do a fantastic chicken saute with vegetables and veggie raviolis (don't remember the exact name.) Basically, any type of saute I've ever had from this place has been flavorful and plentiful. And something about their rolls...yum. (Maybe it's just b/c I'm always starving...there tends to be a wait.) Even love the pizza here. Chicken Koompa Chanella (called Chicken oompa loompa by me and my fiance) is awesome. All of the main dishes are super reasonably priced and the service has always been fine. Definitely check out Paddy's if you're in the area!

A friend and I stumbled upon this place while completely starving. Growing up in Boston, I'm a sucker for an Irish pub. Living here, it's like coming home. So when I say I really dig the atmosphere at Paddy's, just know it's coming from someone steeped in Irish yumminess. My companion wasn't a huge fan of his buffalo wings ("they're stale and old!"), but my chicken ceasar salad pizza was rockin.' My lemon martini was great (I love it when the bartender leaves the sugar out). Our server was perfectly nice. My only gripe was that they pulled the "get out now" trick when it wasn't warranted. Once the bill was paid, my buddy ran to the restroom for a sec, before we left. We didn't plan on lingering, as it was crowded, and I'm sure the table was needed. While my friend was gone, a random server came and grabbed all the silverware, placemats and glasses that were left after our server had bussed the empty plates away. While that is efficient and nice, it felt weird. I spent a good five years in high school and college as a server, and that was what we did to tell customers to leave when we needed the table. It was the same in all of the four restaurants in which I worked. It conveys the message, "ok, time for you to go." It's done on purpose. Had we lingered at the table during the dinner rush, the above would have been understandable. Servers need turnover. However, we only hung out long enough so one of us could pee. There was no need to passive-aggressively tell us to leave! Perhaps I'm more sensitive to it as an ex-server, but I think it really did communicate a "Get Out" vibe, which didn't go with the general restaurant vibe. No need to go overboard with it, folks!

UPDATE: 4 star rating stays! We went back for dinner and it was just as delicious! Chicken pot pie - yummy as was the buffalo wings! I have been driving by this place for months and months now, saying I wanted to go try it out! We finally did yesterday and boy were we happy! I've got two toddlers and was happy to see other kids when we walked in. The atmosphere was comfortable and warm and the food was fast and delicious! I had the French dip with onion rings (which were really great, thinly sliced onions with a great batter!) and it was really tasty. Kids had the typical chicken strips/fries. Husband had a special sandwich that he said was reallly good. We will definitely be back at dinner time to try the pizza/calzones and drink some beer! I'm dying to try the fish & chips and others on the menu.

What a find! Great food and environment. Perfect place to go before/after going to the West Newton Cinemas - or really anytime. My capri sandwich was ridiculously good and the fries ($0.95 upgrade from the chips - well worth it) were seasoned (instead of just salted fried potatoes) and the best I have had in recent memory. And they weren't even curly fries (which are always good). So many other meals looked good - I can't wait to go back here and try something else on their menu!

I've been to this place a lot of times. Everytime is just as good if not better than the last. The food is always excellent, the service is great, and the waitstaff are always friendly. My dad has gone there so much for lunch that they know what he wants before he sits down. He doesn't even need to order. It's nice to see that places still treat repeat customers like old friends. If you're going to go here i would reccomend you try to hit it on the off peak hours. Otherwise you will be waiting to get a seat.

Stumbled upon this place last night completely by accident. I was in Allston/Brighton running errands and my errand companion and I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before heading home. We drove and we drove and we drove and could not find a single pub/restaurant with both parking and an available table. It was Friday at 7pm and there was a Sox game on. Finally, we hit West Newton and found a place with ONE parking spot available. It looked very cozy from the outside. The inside was pretty much the same. Even during the Sox game the bar side was not too busy. The restaurant side was more or less packed, but they found a 2 person table in the middle of the room for us. The room was VERY cozy and resembled something of a house's dining room than a restaurant. I liked this. The service was great. The server did a great job helping us figure out what to order. The beer was fresh and cold, and the turkey club was made perfectly. I only have two complaints: 1.) The chicken wings: I ordered Buffalo Wings and they would have been great save for one thing - the chicken had gone bad. It was just a day or two past the point at which it should have bee served. I ate two or three wings before deciding that they were all bad. Being in the middle of a very intimate room, and being a very timid person in that situation, I didn't say anything to the server, but I should have sent the wings back. There is no excuse to serve bad chicken. 2.) They were in a BIG hurry to get us out of there when we were done with our meal. It seemed like the dinner rush had passed, but that did not seem to matter. Their blue cheese dressing (for the wings) was homemade and very interesting. Also, their homemade coleslaw was perfect. All in all it was a good visit, and I loved finding this out of the way spot for a quick Friday evening dinner. Their prices were very good, even for the booze. We will return, but I'm wary of ordering the wings again, as that left a bad taste in my mouth.

I want to love this place. I really do. It's walking distance from my house. But we've had issues with staff surliness, and the menu doesn't have much for people like me who want healthier, lighter options. Once, my husband and I went in early evening for a drink. The bar was full, but since the restaurant was empty the staff was sitting in the snug. We told the maitre'd we were there for drinks and he said there was no spot. We asked if we might sit in the snug, and he (annoyed) said it was full. So we had a drink in the restaurant, where we got the added fun of an annoyed waitress not getting tipped for a meal. We've come in at their opening time on weekends (we have kids) and been treated like we are interrupting a private party. I really would like to like this place, but O'Haras has more character. Not sure how the too could be so different but they are.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Paddy's is actually in Newton, not Watertown (as noted in another review). We rotate the chance to pick where we go out for Sunday night dinner. Several members of our family will always pick Paddy's because it has good food for kids (pizza off the bar menu) and lots of choices for parents (so everybody is happy about our restaurant choice). There is often a wait when we turn up at 6 pm on Sunday, but the staff are friendlly and the atmosphere inside is warm.

This pub is a gem. The decor in this place is great, and is family friendly (we saw older couples to younger families with children there), and the food was delicious. The service here was particularly good (don't know what some of those reviews were complaining about, but they were over a year old). The waitress refilled our glasses just as we finished, and brought the bill at exactly the right time. The noise level was also good for a pub, since although the TVs were on in the bar area from the dining area you really couldn't hear it, and the overall noise level was low enough for you to have a conversation but not worry about being heard at the next table.

We were coming home from the Special Olympics basketball tournament in Weston and our son was hungry as usual. I used my GPS for local restaurants and came up with Paddies pub. It looked like what you would expect to see in a pub. However, I was very surprised by the menu. There were enough choices for the picky eaters in our group. This was my second visit to Paddy's, but my first visit was ages ago. I arrived there at 11:45am and was meeting 2 friends. The restaurant was completely empty, with the exception of one party that was just being seated by the hostess. One of my friends had arrived, so we were waiting to be seated...there were 4 members of the wait staff doing nothing but standing there staring at us while we waited (again, all tables were empty). We asked if we could seat ourselves and they said no, but made no attempt to take us to a table. When all 3 of us were finally seated, we were given menus and a list of the specials. We had made our selections and were ready to order. The waiter came over-one of my friends wanted the turkey burger, which was a special. Oh no, the waiter says, we don't have any turkey burgers. My other friend ordered a salad with creamy Italian dressing, which was listed on the menu as an option. The waiter said, we don't have Italian dressing, is that what is on the menu? So, 2 out of 3 of our choices were not to be had. We also had to ask for bread, which came out after lunch had already arrived. The waiter never came back ask how our meals were or to refill our drinks. After the bill had arrived, it took forever for them to take it. We ended up having to ask the hostess to take care of it. Overall, a horrible experience...the one saving grace was that my salad was very good.

Just moved into the area and we ate there last night after lines looked too long at other local haunts. As someone who is well seasoned at eating at Boston/Cambridge Irish pubs, I expected the food to fall into the category of "adequate, gets the job done." I am happy to say that Paddy's greatly exceeded my expectations. I got one of the specials which was called lobster supreme. It was lobster tossed with pasta, tomatoes, wine and maybe a little butter. It was seasoned perfectly and very flavorful. It was the best meal I had in a long time. My husband ordered the burger and they cooked it medium rare as ordered, unlike many of the places we have frequented in recent days. A pleasant surprise!

i like to go to this place with my sister in frumpy clothes and boots on a cold day. the french fries are nothing to ride home about. certainly nothing to complain about though. But let me just tell you what to order, in the event that you like these items in the first place: get the rueben, it is really really tastey, and so is the pastrami sandwich. it's served on a roll, cooked in beer, what more could you hope for? the burger was also extremely satisfactory. i wish they had more of a beer selection, but they definately have your basics, guiness, harpoon, sams bar tenders very dry and cool. never get in your face, no chatty cathy in that place. it's nice, especially for west newton. it's not a very happening town. Paddy's puts the other joints in town to shame as far as food goes. nice place to have a beer and a conversation.

This is a great little pub that is worth stopping by if you're in West Newton. The inside looks like an authentic Irish pub and they have friendly service. We went here for lunch yesterday (yay for snow days that aren't really snow days...) because 21 Nickels was closed. I ordered the hot pastrami which was pretty good, nothing epic, but nothing to complain about. I also chose the side of coleslaw which I was pleasantly surprised didn't taste like a scoop of mayo. With a little salt and pepper on both the sandwich and the slaw it was a pretty good meal. Dave got the beef stew which came with a large scoop of mashed potatoes on top. It had a nice gravy flavor, he seemed to enjoy it. I thought it could have had bigger chunks of meat and vegetables, but the flavor was nothing to complain about. We sat at the bar, and the bar tender was very nice and had an Irish accent to boot! I felt like I was transported back to Scotland for a second (never been to Ireland) until she didn't know if they televised rugby games... clearly she either hasn't been living in Ireland for a very very long time or the accent is faked... I mean really, it's basically the only sport they're good at over there. Anyways, good dining experience, bar tender that knows how to pour a guinness and good coleslaw with my ok sandwich- a good lunch spot.

Paddy's is an Irish pub in Watertown (owned by the same people running O'Hara's in Newton Highlands), located right around the corner from Blue Ribbon. It's got a nice, quiet atmosphere with dark wood, decent prices, and a kitchen that stays open late (til 11:00 Thurs-Sat). I wandered in here late one night and was pretty happy with the place, especially the staff (our waitress was both Irish and witty). I don't know that I'd go too far out of my way to come back here, but it's not a bad place to grab a beer and a quiet meal.

I laughed when I read "Leta M" review of this restaurant! First of all, Paddy's and O'Hara's have stood the test of time for a reason. NOT because there isn't competition as you say. That's ludicrous, because there are plenty of other restaurants within a 5 miles radius. Paddy's has stood the test of time because their food is excellent, consistent, and a true bang for your buck. In the 12 years that I have been going there, I can't remember getting a bad meal. The owners work there everyday and pitch in as hard as their staff does. They have a great selection for everybody's taste, and dare I say some of the best pizza around. You Leta, are clearly a young, uncultured snob who thinks a great restaurant should be sconce lighting with overpriced food and $10 cosmopolitans in a place filled with pretentious d-bags (which is exactly why you like "The Local"). That's what you consider high-caliber? - You make me laugh. Paddy's is a friendly, down-to-earth place with good music, good fun, tasty food and it's all a culmination of owners who take pride in making customers happy. People like you should go to Daisy Buchanans in Boston. For people with good taste, go to Paddy's!!

One thing I would like is if they had a spinach option for their salad. Friendly place to get a perfect pint. Upscale food is quite good, typical Newton prices but not bad. They admitted they fry in canola and soy oil (at least for the fried pickles, not sure what else) so I stayed away from anything that might put those objectionable chemicals in my body; but their menu is extensive, even at lunch time, so that wasn't a problem. Kudos to them for honestly telling me, some places aren't so straight with you anymore. Very pleasant staff all around, great fast service, quite clean (including the restrooms), and nice plating (especially for a pub.) Great stop while you're getting your windshield replaced up the block at JN Phillips. I'll stop in again.

I could just stop at: Fried cheese curd balls with chipotle dipping sauce, but the service, wine (and size of glass) were also awesome. Caesar with chicken was yummy with big slices of moist chicken. Cozy pub atmosphere, but still welcoming for families & kids. Bread, apps & entrees. Everybody was impressed & all was good except for the steak sandwich. Something was off with the steak, it tasted foul, so we sent it back. Service was standard, if not good. My "Stuffed" flounder wasnt stuffed, but was really good none-the-less so i didn't make a fuss. My kids fish & chips stood out as the best dish. Overall a solid choice. Party of 7 was about $120 w/ tax, tip, apps & drinks.

Recently went to Paddy's Pub for lunch with my wife after she had been there with a friend and loved her experience there. And while it wasn't warm enough outside for us to sit on their terrace upstairs, we did however have a very enjoyable meal sitting at the bar. We went on a fairly quiet Monday. The Bruins were on TV and sitting at the bar was the logical choice for me. We ordered up a couple of craft beers and peruse through their pretty extensive and yet very enticing menu which also includes an entire page of lunch specials. I decided to get some help from the friendly person behind the bar and eventually settled on their Michaela's buffalo chicken cobb salad ($12.95) which featured some grilled buffalo chicken, hard boiled egg, crumbled bleu cheese, guacamole, salsa and tortilla strips with mixed greens. This giant salad was great, tasted very fresh and while it made for a slightly expensive lunch, it was well worth it and very filling. The wife got their Montreal burger ($10.50) which she devoured as well and which was a burger featuring some Montreal seasoning, bacon and cheddar cheese. Not in the mood for a salad or burger? You can get a lot of other things. They have classic pub fare here such as chicken pot pie ($9.95), fish & chips ($14.25), and even pizzas which come in individual sizes ($9.95) or large sizes ($14.95). You can also get combos where you can mix a half a sandwich with a soup or salad, and they also have all kinds of classic appetizers like wings, nachos, etc. But where Paddy's shines is with the quality of the food they churn out. While most bars are mediocre of average at best, they clearly put a lot of effort forth in their food and have built up quite a following of regulars there. And I don't blame the regulars. On top of that, they also have a great wine and craft beer list, the latter which rotates based on seasonality and of course a full bar to top that off. With it's friendly, cozy atmosphere and the wooden interior, the place's atmosphere is comfortable, inviting and fun. It does get busy in there, especially since they're very involved with the local community. Lastly, the location is fantastic. It's adjacent to West Newton Square, just a hundred yards from 90 and there's a good amount of street parking in that area, along with a public lot across the street. Just make sure you have quarters, and you'll be all set.

We were actually surprised to find we had a short wait but didn't mind since we were able to enjoy the live Irish music until our table was ready. As a local I've been going to Paddy's for years. Have always loved the atmosphere, bartenders, and owners when I've seen them. Great beer selection with rotating taps. Overall a solid pub with good food. But lately I feel like their food has declined a bit. I've gone there twice in the past couple of weeks with friends and we all thought the vegetables were frozen (perfectly cut carrots, peas in the Shepards pie) and the broccoli had that watery frozen taste. And the biggest disappointment was the fact that they took off the veggie burger from their menu! So for us vegetarians their menu is limited unless you want eggplant parm or salad. I don't know, maybe they have a new chef--maybe it was an off nite, but I'm hoping they bring back a veggie burger or veggie chili or black bean salad etc. Their veggie burger was one of the best around. Totally bummed. So I'll continue to go but have changed my expectation for their food--great place for drinks and some apps, not necessarily dinner for me.

I've been to Paddy's many times but felt compelled to write after my most recent visit. We were there with a big group -- including a whole bunch of young children -- during an official pub crawl sponsored by Paddy's and two other local bars. The place was packed when we walked in, but the manager (owner?) immediately offered to clear out two booths for our kids to sit and color while the grownups enjoyed a drink before heading to the next stop on the crawl. So on a very busy day, Paddy's gives up prime booth space -- and hands out paper, crayons, and bread -- to a bunch of kids who aren't ordering anything ... just to make their parents' lives a little easier. Warmth, friendliness, and accommodation -- to me, those are signs of a true Irish pub.

Decided to go to Paddy's one Thursday night to get in a good meal before Thirstday drinking. The most important thing I can say about Paddy's is that the owners/servers are actually Irish and they are the sweetest people. My boyfriend ordered the chicken pot pie because that's what we had dog-earred this place for in the first place and I asked our waitress if she would recommend the shepherd's pie or the seasonal beef stew. She said the beef stew because it's made fresh every day versus the pie which is a regular on the menu and the vegetables used are frozen; I appreciated the honesty. The service there is impeccable. I embarrassingly knocked over my beer when I was moving the plates around to make room (clumsy elbow) and the staff there didn't even bat an eye. After all my apologizing, our waitress said a consoling "I'm just glad it happened now instead of later in the night." They even replaced my beer without charging me extra for it which was really nice. As far as food goes, the stew was a little salty for my liking but pairing my leftovers with some white rice really helped tone down the saltiness. The chicken pot pie is as good as people say it is plus I'm a sucker for a bread bowl.

One of the great things about living in the Newton area is the wonderful selection of pubs. Paddy's is most definitely on the list of go to places. There are many good things and a few things that need a bit of TLC. 1. Atmosphere is perfect. Do not fool with it. 2. The menu is wonderful but watch the ordering since portions are generous. The onion rings are home made and killer. Pizzas are great with a perfect crust and generous toppings. 3. These folks do a top flight job keeping the orders coming. The troops in the kitchen must be working at light speed. Some things need a touch of attention: They pour a weak scotch which given the price is a draw back. While most of the staff are great the bartenders are much less on the ball. If you walk in and it seems packed do not leave. They will get you seated PDQ.

This place has an awesome cozy/homey feel. It was the perfect place for dinner on a dreary weeknight. The bar was decently busy and the dining room well, let's face it I think my friend (shout out to Laura T.) and I were the only ones in there that were under 45. We went to dinner around six maybe that was just the earlier crowd. Our waitress was quite friendly, she let us takes our time with the menus, and helped us narrow down a few things. The nachos were great! They layer the cheese in between each chip layer so when you get to the center of the nacho place you still have a great selection of cheesy nachos to choose from. Why all restaurants don't do this is beyond me. Also got the Caesar Salad pizza; I liked it, my friend was not such a big fan. They did go a little heavy on the dressing, if I got it again I would just request for them to go light on the dressing.

Paddy's is one of those places you go to when you are craving a good sandwich and soup. There specials are usually out of this world, and their mussel's are the best I've ever had. In fact they're a meal onto themselves, just ask for extra roles! The bar tender Cindy will get to know you within 1-2 visits and is always good for a chat. If you want to go there for dinner just plan a few minutes ahead. There is NO bad meal on that menu and it's not a secret to the locals. I loved Paddy's for years. I used to live around the corner. I took my friends, my family, and my coworkers there, everybody always had an excellent experience. The owner knew me by name, and I felt like some of the waitresses were actually friends. I went again not too long ago. It had been about 6 months between visits, and I was super pumped to have their delicious reuben. Not only was my sandwich soggy and cold, the bartender left it on the check even AFTER we had a pleasant conversation about what a crappy reuben it was. I have walked by this bar countless times on my way to Blue Ribbon BBQ and never even thought to look at a menu online or check out Yelp reviews. I finally realized my stupidity when I ate dinner at O'Hara's in Newton Highlands only to find out that Paddy's and O'Hara's are sister restaurants with identical regular AND gluten free menus. Paddy's is slightly smaller than O'Hara's and just as crowded with young people and older folks alike. We arrived as a group of 11 right at 6pm on Saturday night and despite a long line of folks waiting we ended up being seated in less than 20 minutes. The host and server were great and there were no mistakes with any of the 11 orders. I had the special breaded pork chops which were delicious and the wife had the gluten free chicken parm which she is still raving about. Not one person disliked their food and the whole bill for 11 people plus drinks came to $175 which is ridiculously cheap. Paddy's is highly recommended and they have a really good gluten free menu with plenty of options besides salads and burgers sans buns.

I'm a big fan of this place. I've been here three times, and every experience has been really great. The service was prompt and friendly, the drinks were tasty and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was perfect - just a great, local pub. The best part about Paddy's is the food. I've had a burger and a pasta dish from their menu, and both were delicious. This is my go-to spot in Newton to take people. :)

We used yelp and found this great pub in W Newton. Friendly servers. Great atmosphere. We went for lunch had quick service fantastic authentic clam chowder. Wonderful fish and chips and a great burger. We live in Saugus but will happily drive back. Lots of delicious looking specials.

I like this place. I eat here often. The food is good and the beer is always cold. The best thing on the menu is the pizza. it's all good. But the pizza is king. This place is an extremely heavy local spot so expect townies, and townie wives.. and sometimes their children cant be helped. but if you like a cozy place for a pint or a one on one dinner. It's pretty good. Get there early however because those town lots fill up fast and people stay parked there for hours, and hours.and they almost never leave..

Solid lunch spot. Everything we ate was down right delicious. Service was attentive, good atmosphere, great pub. The loaded nachos with buffalo chicken was amazing (great buffalo chicken btw). Only a few nits keeping it from being a 5 star pub, burger was well done asked for med-rare, and food came out right after the app, so there was food everywhere. I wouldn't hesitate to come back, in fact I'm sure I will.

This place is a classic pub, and I'd kill to have it in my neighborhood. The exterior and interior have spot-on English pub finishes, with that nice dark, warm looking interior. My fiance and future in-laws went to Paddy's Pub on a Friday evening. Even though I had read the Yelp reviews, I still thought it was going to be a semi dive-y place just from the name. Boy was I mistaken. We walked into a crowded front bar area and after asking a staff member how we get a table, they pointed us to the manager. When we were told it would be about a 20 minute wait we said no problem, we'll grab a beer from the bar. They had a nice draft selection, and it was pretty easy to get the bartenders attention. We were standing around chatting and 10 minutes after putting our name down we were getting seated. We were there at a normal dinner hour , but noticed the clientele was a little older. It was actually a nice atmosphere because it wasn't too loud and seemed like it was a place to enjoy a meal/dinner and good conversation with your tablemates. The menu was exhaustive and it felt like the pub was stuck between an Irish and Italian identify with traditional entrees of Shepard's pie and Chicken Parm. The waitress gave a few recommendations but they were all over the place so a couple of us go a risotto special, I got the fish and chips, and maybe someone got the Shepard's pie. When the food was delivered we were shocked by the portions - they were huge!! 3 of the 4 of us had leftovers. The risotto was really good - creamy and flavorful - though it lost some of that flavor as a leftover. The fish and chips were perfect - big pieces of lightly breaded fish - and tasty french fries. We left with full bellies and happy. And the prices seemed pretty good. Definitely a place we'll take the 'rents to for dinner, or maybe have a bite to eat in the front bar area ourselves.

This is my all time favorite restaurant in the Waltham/Newton area. I used to work at home...and I would go to this place 2-3 times a week! I also make sure to bring out of town visitors here whenever I can. Irish pubs are a dime a dozen in the Boston area. But there is just something about this place that makes it stand out above the rest! It is NOT a typical pub, and the food is OUTSTANDING! Atmosphere: Upscale Irish Pub. The staff is friendly, but not too bothersome. The service is excellent. The bar and dining areas are very beautiful and cozy. Food: Excellent pub good, The Killkenny steak tips are absolutely incredible. The Shepard's Pie, is the same. The burgers are GREAT. They have the wide fries (chip style) that I love. They even have good PIZZA! Beer: Call me boring but I always get a harpoon IPA. Regardless of the time, busy or slow, lunch, or dinner, It is ALWAYS served perfectly in a chilled glass. It is my favorite place to get a pint in the greater Boston Area.

However, they did tell us our wait would be 20 minutes...60 minutes later...we were seated. A nice place to go for dinner, where you can sit and relax. Aside from the fact that the nacho's were about as close to perfection as nacho's can get, I won't be going back here. It was my first (and last) visit. Until Saturday, I had never seen such a collective group of surly waitstaff in one place. The hostess was extremely rude and the wait staff literally stood there with their arms folded across their chests in protest, as people came into the place. We had just run a 5K nearby and the people at "The Local" (formerly RJ Crowley's), who had sponsored the 5K, decided to kick everyone out at 4, so they could prepare for dinner. (I'm still unclear as to the logic of turning away a bunch of appetizer & alcohol business in favor your early bird diners?) Anyway, "The Local's" loss is Paddy's gain, right? Wrong! You would think they'd be happy to have a fair amount of people stop in on what would otherwise be a dreadfully slow afternoon, but nope. It's not as though they were understaffed either. And not that it really matters but the 5K crowd wasn't a bunch of rowdy college kids either - it was mostly an over 30 crowd. So, although the food was good (which is why I'm being generous with the 3-stars), I just could not get past how poorly the staff behaved. At one point, my friend just laughed out loud and said "Why are these people are so mean?" That about sums it up.

I have been here what seems like a thousand times but I have finally decided to write a review. When shy away from my go to dish is it never as good as the before. There is a good selection on the menu to choose from so there is something for everyone. The rolls they bring out are always crispy warm and delicious. The service is always quick and friendly and the food comes out quick. The ambiance is warm and cozy and always a lively place. I will continue to come back to this neighborhood place!

Cozy pub with friendly service! The nachos were DIVINE, super cheesy and crispy, with huge, generous sides of sour cream and salsa. We also got the chicken Caesar pizza, the dough was very tasty but I wasn't the biggest fan of the Caesar dressing. My friend liked it though so maybe it was just me! Fun place to go. If you're looking for a home bar and live nearby this would be a good candidate. Coming from Auburndale I have to laugh because "there's no way to get there from here". The road splits to the left or the right but not straight ahead onto Elm Street. Not a big problem, taking a right works. I have never had any poor quality moments at this establishment in food, drink or fun!

Please don't let my 3 star review deceive you. My visit to Paddy's Pub in West Newton, MA was a wonderful experience. The inside seemed clean and comfortable and the service was attentive and helpful. The food at Paddy's Pub is traditional Irish Pub food... and luckily for me.. that is exactly what I was looking for. Burgers, Onion Rings, Shepard's Pie, Chicken Pot Pie... Paddy's is an Irish Pub true and true... and the experience we had was all the better for it. The burgers were above average with a heavy emphasis on above. Served up extremely juicy and cooked to a perfect mid-well perfection. My cohort however ordered her burger well done and she got hers... a perfect mid-well perfection. Which.. didn't seem to bother her all that much. It was nothing to complain about because she isn't one of those people that is completely turned off by the pink center.. but, if you order a burger a certain way (especially well done) it should come a certain way. Onion Rings were standard fair and their pizza offers a wonderful crispy crust and loads of toppings. Their menu has lots of wonderful beers on tap and again I can't praise the comfort level of their dining room enough. Though I have only been to Paddy's Place once I walked away with the feeling that... if I went to Paddy's Place I would know exactly what I was getting every time. There is something admirable about consistency and I feel that Paddy's Place is one of those places that you can go to and get a very good meal to accompany your draft of choice. A very good experience and worth checking out.

Paddy's is a great neighborhood spot with friendly service, great food and drinks. It's on the smaller side, so be prepared to wait for bar seating or table service during rush times. We sat at the bar once seats opened up and stayed for a few hours hanging out, eating and drinking. The waitstaff are polite, make you laugh and are very consistent with service. I had the beer corn beef sandwich (forget the name) and it was to die for! Had melted swiss and horseradish sauce - yum yum yuum. Friend had the dennisport salad, which was amazing as well.

Very rarely do I buy gift card to restaurants as presents. This holiday season I gave out a few Paddy's gift cards. I really enjoy the bar scene here, they have great chex mix out. A few small TVs that are perfect for watching the Pats. The bartenders are always attentive and very interactive, the people that frequent the bar are just as fun as watching the game. I've had the grilled cheese, shepard's pie and various other items off the menu. But my all time favorite is the buffalo chicken pizza. I live about 20 minutes away and will drive over to get take out. Everything has been delicous, never disappointed. It can be crowded but worth the wait/shuffle. Try a Magner's Pear Cider!

Recognized the menu and asked the waitress if this pub was related to O'Hara's- it is!...having had a mediocre experience at O'Hara's recently, were looking on yelp for another pub in the area to try. Pleasantly surprised! the atmosphere is nicer, more pub like than O'Haras, the wait staff is really pleasant, and even though the same hostess we encountered at O'Haras was working at Paddys pub, she seemed to have had a little attitude adjustment, almost pleasant-a pleasant surprise. Have to say the food was much better than O'Hara's. The seared haddock served on risotto was very good, as was the monterey turkey burger- onion rings outstanding. We did not have to wait for a table, and really enjoyed the meal. Will definitely drive past O'Haras to return to Paddy's pub.

I feel badly for not reviewing Paddy's earlier. I've been coming here for four years and love everything on the menu. They have great seasonal beer on tap. The owner and staff couldn't be friendlier. Don't be deterred by the crowd, the line moves quickly! It's never taken more than 20 minutes for a table, even when the place is packed. Try the buffalo chicken nachos- they are hands down the best nachos on the planet.

Great food, live music and staff! We came here for a friend's birthday, having always wanted to try this place and were not disappointed. When we arrived, the dining area was packed, but we were seated within 10 minutes of putting our name in with the host. He sort of stands at the end of the wall which divides the bar area and the dining area. The bar is very nice looking and comfortable. Not the sort where one in their 20s would go at night to have a good time, but where you could go to relax, have a nice drink and chat with a few friends for a couple of hours with no yelling required. Me and the birthday girl got the Irish Shephard's Pie. Fantastic. I'm not the biggest fan of cut carrots, and there were a lot of them, but they didn't detract from the dish and didn't stop me from polishing off the plate. (don't judge me? i hadn't eaten all day?) The seating seems as though it would be a little cramped but was actually really comfortable. You didn't have the feeling like your conversation was going farther from your own table, bothering others, and it seemed likewise for other tables as well. One of the parties at our table ordered a medium burger because, as was his experience, such an order normally turns up medium well. This was not the case here. The burger came as ordered, to his surprise and approval. Another diner's plate of ravioli was also satisfactorily polished off. The non-fried version, that is.

Right when you walk you are greeted by such friendly staff who are ready to seat you. As you walk through you can hear the sound of live folk-type music that fills the pub and the ambiance is just like something out of Cheers. As for the food, they just had too many options to choose from and it made it difficult to pick just one thing for a meal. I got a caprese salad and crab cakes. All were delicious and you can taste how fresh the ingredients were. The crab cakes were packed with flavor and probably one of the best I've had. The soups were great, but the clam chowder was a bit too salty. Overall the portions were more than reasonable and you will certainly leave feeling full and satisfied. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their menu options!

Nice atmosphere, OK food. The wraps and salad I've had were very tasty, but the hot meals I've had have been hit or miss. It's the same with the service. Some nights the staff have been friendly (I don't always expect super fast since this is a busy popular place, but they've never been noticeably slow) but sometimes you feel like you're annoying them by being there. It seems like if you're a regular you get paid a lot of attention though. I'd come back here because of the atmosphere and because when it's good it's very good, but it's not top of my list.

Came here with two friends last night for a few rounds of Guinness and some food. Lets start with the drinks. The Guinness was fantastic, well poured, served in the proper glass, and tasted right (my fellow Guinness drinkers know how important this is). For food, we got the plain no-meat nachos, and they were sizzling and fantastic, I don't know what kind of cheese they used, but it was fantastic! I got the fish and chips for an entree, and they were just fantastic! The fish was well breaded, but not too thick, you could tell it was fresh. The fries (chips) were thick, but well cooked and not too hard. Nice atmosphere and friendly/fun staff, I would highly recommend this place for good drinks, good food and a good time. Will definitely frequent here often!

Good lunch crowd there! My partner and I had business in the area and stopped in for a bite to eat. Good service, good food and good place to talk things over. Definitely good place for comfort food. Liz took care of us just right. On the way in, you pass the bar area before you come upon the dining section. They can probably fit one large group, but most of the tables fit 2-4 persons. There were plenty of metered parking when we were there.

Paddy's (formally Paddy O's) in West Newton is a staple in the neighborhood, and is consistently one of the most crowded restaurants in the area (even on typically "off" nights Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). They have an extensive Irish menu, as well as some other non-traditional options, such as a gluten-free section among other rotating specials, (and surprisingly good pizza) and contrary to many of its Irish pub counterparts, the dining room is typically still crowded through the night when regulars typically occupy the bar. They have fairly standard draft beer options (couple of Sam's, Harpoons, domestic, Irish...) for the Boston area, and a full bar, though much of the emphasis at Paddy's remains on the menu. Additionally, each October, they put on the "shillelagh shuffle", a road race to benefit the Newton Special Athlete's Foundation, a tradition that dates back to 2002.

I go to school in the area and must visit Paddy's about once a week solely to get their Buffalo Chicken Nachos. Seriously, the best buffalo chicken I have ever had. All their food is delicious as well. Their beer selection is good too, but a little pricey. It can get pretty busy and there is not a lot of seating, so keep that in mind if your going during prime time.

This is one of my favorite local bars/restaurants. I've been to this place about 20 times on different days of the week and I have never seen a bar so consistently packed. The only real downside to Paddy's is the mediocre wait staff, and the fact that its so packed all the time. The waitstaff is mediocre to poor in my experience. One of my male waiters was so bad one night it sort of ruined my experience. He never asked us if we wanted drinks, he never asked us if we wanted more drinks, he never asked us if we needed anything, never asked us if we wanted to bill. We just had to flag him down every time we wanted something and he didn't say one word to us. Just one word answers, yes, no, ok, be right back, etc. Probably the worst waiter I have ever had. The bartenders are solid (although, have fun getting a seat at the bar.....ever) and the guy who runs the place and does the seating is nice and on point. The atmosphere is very cozy and the food has been very good every time I have eaten there. There is ample parking in the street, around the corner, and across the street in the municipal lots but if you go between 5-8 you might have trouble finding a spot because this place is so consistently packed . They have some sort of function room upstairs but it is unused. It perplexes me as to why they don't turn this upstairs into another full bar and seating area. They would double their business and appease way more customers. I have attempted to go there several times where it was so packed I just turned around and walked out. Not a good thing for customers, But, a good thing for them as it shows they are running a good restaurant, have tons of repeat customers , and are making some money. That said, overall the food and cozy atmosphere make me love this place but the constantly packed atmosphere detracts a little bit. Owner of Paddy's listen up: , Fire most of your waiters and spend a little money and turning the upstairs into a full service bar and seating area. If your in the area, check it out. side note: O'Hara's is their sister bar with the same exact menu and food source.

When a co-worker suggested we go here for lunch I was expecting your typical pub fare, but not so- Paddy's has a great selection of unique sandwiches and entrees at reasonable prices. I had the chicken pot pie, served in a sourdough bread bowl after our server said it was a house specialty- very good. Clean and cozy atmosphere. The only thing that even slightly put me off was that when we walked in there was a group ahead of us waiting to be seated (with the majority of the dining room open) and 3 of the wait staff stood around until the hostess came out and sat the groups that were waiting. All and all a good experience though, and we'll certainly be back!

I should take away a star from myself for not trying this place sooner. Great pub feel, awesome staff, great table by the window on a busy Friday night. We arrived around 7:30PM. The host was very nice, and we were seated in about 10 minutes. I love good pub grub, and this place is stellar. Chicken capri sandwich, a huge piece of salmon, Mark West Pinot Noir, with dirty martini chasers. So good! So cheap! I am taking the hubby back here next week end since he is the king of pub grub. I can not believe it took me 8 years to try this place.

Found out about Paddy's about 5 years ago and have been a huge fan ever since. For an Irish pub, they sure do a fantastic job with many types of food. Absolute fave dish is the Chicken Au Porto - chicken parm with a layer of eggplant, artichokes, tomato slices, and lots of cheese. (Not something I eat often for obvious health reasons...though I do opt for some steamed broccoli instead of pasta on the side.) They change their menu items seasonally, but if you ask for that one by name they will always make it for you. They also do a fantastic chicken saute with vegetables and veggie raviolis (don't remember the exact name.) Basically, any type of saute I've ever had from this place has been flavorful and plentiful. And something about their rolls...yum. (Maybe it's just b/c I'm always starving...there tends to be a wait.) Even love the pizza here. Chicken Koompa Chanella (called Chicken oompa loompa by me and my fiance) is awesome. All of the main dishes are super reasonably priced and the service has always been fine. Definitely check out Paddy's if you're in the area!

A friend and I stumbled upon this place while completely starving. Growing up in Boston, I'm a sucker for an Irish pub. Living here, it's like coming home. So when I say I really dig the atmosphere at Paddy's, just know it's coming from someone steeped in Irish yumminess. My companion wasn't a huge fan of his buffalo wings ("they're stale and old!"), but my chicken ceasar salad pizza was rockin.' My lemon martini was great (I love it when the bartender leaves the sugar out). Our server was perfectly nice. My only gripe was that they pulled the "get out now" trick when it wasn't warranted. Once the bill was paid, my buddy ran to the restroom for a sec, before we left. We didn't plan on lingering, as it was crowded, and I'm sure the table was needed. While my friend was gone, a random server came and grabbed all the silverware, placemats and glasses that were left after our server had bussed the empty plates away. While that is efficient and nice, it felt weird. I spent a good five years in high school and college as a server, and that was what we did to tell customers to leave when we needed the table. It was the same in all of the four restaurants in which I worked. It conveys the message, "ok, time for you to go." It's done on purpose. Had we lingered at the table during the dinner rush, the above would have been understandable. Servers need turnover. However, we only hung out long enough so one of us could pee. There was no need to passive-aggressively tell us to leave! Perhaps I'm more sensitive to it as an ex-server, but I think it really did communicate a "Get Out" vibe, which didn't go with the general restaurant vibe. No need to go overboard with it, folks!

UPDATE: 4 star rating stays! We went back for dinner and it was just as delicious! Chicken pot pie - yummy as was the buffalo wings! I have been driving by this place for months and months now, saying I wanted to go try it out! We finally did yesterday and boy were we happy! I've got two toddlers and was happy to see other kids when we walked in. The atmosphere was comfortable and warm and the food was fast and delicious! I had the French dip with onion rings (which were really great, thinly sliced onions with a great batter!) and it was really tasty. Kids had the typical chicken strips/fries. Husband had a special sandwich that he said was reallly good. We will definitely be back at dinner time to try the pizza/calzones and drink some beer! I'm dying to try the fish & chips and others on the menu.

What a find! Great food and environment. Perfect place to go before/after going to the West Newton Cinemas - or really anytime. My capri sandwich was ridiculously good and the fries ($0.95 upgrade from the chips - well worth it) were seasoned (instead of just salted fried potatoes) and the best I have had in recent memory. And they weren't even curly fries (which are always good). So many other meals looked good - I can't wait to go back here and try something else on their menu!

I love Paddy's. Great atmosphere, great food. More than one employee is actually from Ireland. The sweet potato fries and the Shepard's pie are my favorites and always amazing. The biggest surprise on the menu is the pizza which is great and cheap. There is usually a bit of a wait, but there is always room at the bar.

I've been to this place a lot of times. Everytime is just as good if not better than the last. The food is always excellent, the service is great, and the waitstaff are always friendly. My dad has gone there so much for lunch that they know what he wants before he sits down. He doesn't even need to order. It's nice to see that places still treat repeat customers like old friends. If you're going to go here i would reccomend you try to hit it on the off peak hours. Otherwise you will be waiting to get a seat.

I'd been looking in the windows of this place for years without ever making it in, and I'm glad I finally did. Paddy's has quite a good draft beer selection for a neighborhood pub (including Dogfish Head), and the food was very good. Altogether much more than I expected. Great place to meet someone getting off the train in West Newton. I'll definitely be back to Paddy's.

Stumbled upon this place last night completely by accident. I was in Allston/Brighton running errands and my errand companion and I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before heading home. We drove and we drove and we drove and could not find a single pub/restaurant with both parking and an available table. It was Friday at 7pm and there was a Sox game on. Finally, we hit West Newton and found a place with ONE parking spot available. It looked very cozy from the outside. The inside was pretty much the same. Even during the Sox game the bar side was not too busy. The restaurant side was more or less packed, but they found a 2 person table in the middle of the room for us. The room was VERY cozy and resembled something of a house's dining room than a restaurant. I liked this. The service was great. The server did a great job helping us figure out what to order. The beer was fresh and cold, and the turkey club was made perfectly. I only have two complaints: 1.) The chicken wings: I ordered Buffalo Wings and they would have been great save for one thing - the chicken had gone bad. It was just a day or two past the point at which it should have bee served. I ate two or three wings before deciding that they were all bad. Being in the middle of a very intimate room, and being a very timid person in that situation, I didn't say anything to the server, but I should have sent the wings back. There is no excuse to serve bad chicken. 2.) They were in a BIG hurry to get us out of there when we were done with our meal. It seemed like the dinner rush had passed, but that did not seem to matter. Their blue cheese dressing (for the wings) was homemade and very interesting. Also, their homemade coleslaw was perfect. All in all it was a good visit, and I loved finding this out of the way spot for a quick Friday evening dinner. Their prices were very good, even for the booze. We will return, but I'm wary of ordering the wings again, as that left a bad taste in my mouth.

I want to love this place. I really do. It's walking distance from my house. But we've had issues with staff surliness, and the menu doesn't have much for people like me who want healthier, lighter options. Once, my husband and I went in early evening for a drink. The bar was full, but since the restaurant was empty the staff was sitting in the snug. We told the maitre'd we were there for drinks and he said there was no spot. We asked if we might sit in the snug, and he (annoyed) said it was full. So we had a drink in the restaurant, where we got the added fun of an annoyed waitress not getting tipped for a meal. We've come in at their opening time on weekends (we have kids) and been treated like we are interrupting a private party. I really would like to like this place, but O'Haras has more character. Not sure how the too could be so different but they are.

We go here at least twice a month, so I'm adding a 5th star. Always good food, in enough variety to satisfy all of us. Friendly staff. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Paddy's is actually in Newton, not Watertown (as noted in another review). We rotate the chance to pick where we go out for Sunday night dinner. Several members of our family will always pick Paddy's because it has good food for kids (pizza off the bar menu) and lots of choices for parents (so everybody is happy about our restaurant choice). There is often a wait when we turn up at 6 pm on Sunday, but the staff are friendlly and the atmosphere inside is warm.

This pub is a gem. The decor in this place is great, and is family friendly (we saw older couples to younger families with children there), and the food was delicious. The service here was particularly good (don't know what some of those reviews were complaining about, but they were over a year old). The waitress refilled our glasses just as we finished, and brought the bill at exactly the right time. The noise level was also good for a pub, since although the TVs were on in the bar area from the dining area you really couldn't hear it, and the overall noise level was low enough for you to have a conversation but not worry about being heard at the next table.

We were coming home from the Special Olympics basketball tournament in Weston and our son was hungry as usual. I used my GPS for local restaurants and came up with Paddies pub. It looked like what you would expect to see in a pub. However, I was very surprised by the menu. There were enough choices for the picky eaters in our group. The food was fresh tasting with an interesting mix of ingredients. The restaurant was clean with good music playing in the back ground. The service was very good and came with smiles. We'll be going back.

Love Paddy's!!! I have never had a bad meal here, ever. Love the burgers, cream of broccoli soup and they always have some great specials! The pizza looks quite good, but can't bring myself to order a pizza here, just seems strange. Servers are friendly and attentive.

This was my second visit to Paddy's, but my first visit was ages ago. I arrived there at 11:45am and was meeting 2 friends. The restaurant was completely empty, with the exception of one party that was just being seated by the hostess. One of my friends had arrived, so we were waiting to be seated...there were 4 members of the wait staff doing nothing but standing there staring at us while we waited (again, all tables were empty). We asked if we could seat ourselves and they said no, but made no attempt to take us to a table. When all 3 of us were finally seated, we were given menus and a list of the specials. We had made our selections and were ready to order. The waiter came over-one of my friends wanted the turkey burger, which was a special. Oh no, the waiter says, we don't have any turkey burgers. My other friend ordered a salad with creamy Italian dressing, which was listed on the menu as an option. The waiter said, we don't have Italian dressing, is that what is on the menu? So, 2 out of 3 of our choices were not to be had. We also had to ask for bread, which came out after lunch had already arrived. The waiter never came back ask how our meals were or to refill our drinks. After the bill had arrived, it took forever for them to take it. We ended up having to ask the hostess to take care of it. Overall, a horrible experience...the one saving grace was that my salad was very good.

Just moved into the area and we ate there last night after lines looked too long at other local haunts. As someone who is well seasoned at eating at Boston/Cambridge Irish pubs, I expected the food to fall into the category of "adequate, gets the job done." I am happy to say that Paddy's greatly exceeded my expectations. I got one of the specials which was called lobster supreme. It was lobster tossed with pasta, tomatoes, wine and maybe a little butter. It was seasoned perfectly and very flavorful. It was the best meal I had in a long time. My husband ordered the burger and they cooked it medium rare as ordered, unlike many of the places we have frequented in recent days. A pleasant surprise!

i like to go to this place with my sister in frumpy clothes and boots on a cold day. the french fries are nothing to ride home about. certainly nothing to complain about though. But let me just tell you what to order, in the event that you like these items in the first place: get the rueben, it is really really tastey, and so is the pastrami sandwich. it's served on a roll, cooked in beer, what more could you hope for? the burger was also extremely satisfactory. i wish they had more of a beer selection, but they definately have your basics, guiness, harpoon, sams bar tenders very dry and cool. never get in your face, no chatty cathy in that place. it's nice, especially for west newton. it's not a very happening town. Paddy's puts the other joints in town to shame as far as food goes. nice place to have a beer and a conversation.

Went here for a working lunch and had a fantastic lunch. The sandwiches are to die for and came with a healthy amount of fries - the turkey melt with the balsamic reduction was magical! The staff here was friendly; we were actually there 20 minutes before they opened and they let us hang out until they officially opened, and then our food came promptly. Can't wait to go back there again!

Waddaya know? This Irish pub also has good pasta, calzones, and pizza! (And this is coming from an Italian food snob!) It's a great little neighborhood pub -- my favorite pub in West Newton...maybe even my favorite pub in Newton. Only bummer is that it's closed on Sundays during the summer. I also wish they'd do a Sunday brunch...I bet it would be great, and there's no place in West Newton to sit down and have a nice brunch.

This is a great little pub that is worth stopping by if you're in West Newton. The inside looks like an authentic Irish pub and they have friendly service. They had a great variety of beers on tap and the food was really good. I had the London Broil with mashed and was very pleased. They also have a great corner table in the bar area if you're coming with friends or a date. This would be my most frequented local bar if it were within walking distance.

We went here for lunch yesterday (yay for snow days that aren't really snow days...) because 21 Nickels was closed. I ordered the hot pastrami which was pretty good, nothing epic, but nothing to complain about. I also chose the side of coleslaw which I was pleasantly surprised didn't taste like a scoop of mayo. With a little salt and pepper on both the sandwich and the slaw it was a pretty good meal. Dave got the beef stew which came with a large scoop of mashed potatoes on top. It had a nice gravy flavor, he seemed to enjoy it. I thought it could have had bigger chunks of meat and vegetables, but the flavor was nothing to complain about. We sat at the bar, and the bar tender was very nice and had an Irish accent to boot! I felt like I was transported back to Scotland for a second (never been to Ireland) until she didn't know if they televised rugby games... clearly she either hasn't been living in Ireland for a very very long time or the accent is faked... I mean really, it's basically the only sport they're good at over there. Anyways, good dining experience, bar tender that knows how to pour a guinness and good coleslaw with my ok sandwich- a good lunch spot.

Paddy's is great: service, food and prices. Claire is right - the food choices can make everyone happy. The pizza is yummy, but only available after 4pm. My favorite is the turkey club on toasted wheat with honey mustard on the side (skip the mayo). The nachos are also a crowd pleaser.

Paddy's is an Irish pub in Watertown (owned by the same people running O'Hara's in Newton Highlands), located right around the corner from Blue Ribbon. It's got a nice, quiet atmosphere with dark wood, decent prices, and a kitchen that stays open late (til 11:00 Thurs-Sat). I wandered in here late one night and was pretty happy with the place, especially the staff (our waitress was both Irish and witty). I don't know that I'd go too far out of my way to come back here, but it's not a bad place to grab a beer and a quiet meal.

We found this place a few years ago looking for a place to eat after the movies in West Newton and have become fans of this restaurant and the Ohara's other pub in Newtonville. I have been back to them about 40-50 times over this period and enjoyed the food and the service immensely. They have a diverse menu and everything I have ever tried has been excellent. I laughed when I read "Leta M" review of this restaurant! First of all, Paddy's and O'Hara's have stood the test of time for a reason. NOT because there isn't competition as you say. That's ludicrous, because there are plenty of other restaurants within a 5 miles radius. Paddy's has stood the test of time because their food is excellent, consistent, and a true bang for your buck. In the 12 years that I have been going there, I can't remember getting a bad meal. The owners work there everyday and pitch in as hard as their staff does. They have a great selection for everybody's taste, and dare I say some of the best pizza around. You Leta, are clearly a young, uncultured snob who thinks a great restaurant should be sconce lighting with overpriced food and $10 cosmopolitans in a place filled with pretentious d-bags (which is exactly why you like "The Local"). That's what you consider high-caliber? - You make me laugh. Paddy's is a friendly, down-to-earth place with good music, good fun, tasty food and it's all a culmination of owners who take pride in making customers happy. People like you should go to Daisy Buchanans in Boston. For people with good taste, go to Paddy's!!

I think Paddy's is a great place. At work, we order lunch there probably once a week. They have something on the menu for pretty much anybody! One thing I would like is if they had a spinach option for their salad. I think their salads would taste great and be more appreciated with spinach as opposed to lettuce which doesn't have much nutritional value. Pretty good otherwise. :)

Friendly place to get a perfect pint. Upscale food is quite good, typical Newton prices but not bad. They admitted they fry in canola and soy oil (at least for the fried pickles, not sure what else) so I stayed away from anything that might put those objectionable chemicals in my body; but their menu is extensive, even at lunch time, so that wasn't a problem. Kudos to them for honestly telling me, some places aren't so straight with you anymore. Very pleasant staff all around, great fast service, quite clean (including the restrooms), and nice plating (especially for a pub.) Great stop while you're getting your windshield replaced up the block at JN Phillips. I'll stop in again.

I could just stop at: Fried cheese curd balls with chipotle dipping sauce, but the service, wine (and size of glass) were also awesome. Caesar with chicken was yummy with big slices of moist chicken. Only bummer was the clam chowder was pink and runny, not the white, thick yumminess that we enjoy and expect. We would have tried bigger menu items like Shepherd's Pie if he hadn't filled up on cheese curds. :) Would definitely go back.

Came here after picking up my sister-in-law from the train station, everybody was hungry and the snowy highway was backed up for miles, so we stopped and ate. Cozy pub atmosphere, but still welcoming for families & kids. Bread, apps & entrees. Everybody was impressed & all was good except for the steak sandwich. Something was off with the steak, it tasted foul, so we sent it back. Service was standard, if not good. My "Stuffed" flounder wasnt stuffed, but was really good none-the-less so i didn't make a fuss. My kids fish & chips stood out as the best dish. Overall a solid choice. Party of 7 was about $120 w/ tax, tip, apps & drinks.

Everything I get from this place is phenomenal. I have been here about 20 times with no bad experiences. The meals are huge and are well priced. I get the French dip. It is the best one I have had yet. I have also had the eggplant chicken parm combo and it was to die for. One more thing that is really great here are the fish tacos. They are very fresh and crispy. I have tried fried and pan seared both were amazing. The staff is great. They are always alert and on point. I will be back again and again.

Before going to Paddy's, I was told- "You'll pay a lot, but get what you pay for in volume" The fish sandwich felt like a full platter portion, the fish and chips had even more. The beef stew is HUGE and hard to finish. However, nothing was outstanding. The beer list was decent, but again not the best in the area. So, it has a little bit of something for everyone, but you'll pay for the big menu.

Recently went to Paddy's Pub for lunch with my wife after she had been there with a friend and loved her experience there. And while it wasn't warm enough outside for us to sit on their terrace upstairs, we did however have a very enjoyable meal sitting at the bar. We went on a fairly quiet Monday. The Bruins were on TV and sitting at the bar was the logical choice for me. We ordered up a couple of craft beers and peruse through their pretty extensive and yet very enticing menu which also includes an entire page of lunch specials. I decided to get some help from the friendly person behind the bar and eventually settled on their Michaela's buffalo chicken cobb salad ($12.95) which featured some grilled buffalo chicken, hard boiled egg, crumbled bleu cheese, guacamole, salsa and tortilla strips with mixed greens. This giant salad was great, tasted very fresh and while it made for a slightly expensive lunch, it was well worth it and very filling. The wife got their Montreal burger ($10.50) which she devoured as well and which was a burger featuring some Montreal seasoning, bacon and cheddar cheese. Not in the mood for a salad or burger? You can get a lot of other things. They have classic pub fare here such as chicken pot pie ($9.95), fish & chips ($14.25), and even pizzas which come in individual sizes ($9.95) or large sizes ($14.95). You can also get combos where you can mix a half a sandwich with a soup or salad, and they also have all kinds of classic appetizers like wings, nachos, etc. But where Paddy's shines is with the quality of the food they churn out. While most bars are mediocre of average at best, they clearly put a lot of effort forth in their food and have built up quite a following of regulars there. And I don't blame the regulars. On top of that, they also have a great wine and craft beer list, the latter which rotates based on seasonality and of course a full bar to top that off. With it's friendly, cozy atmosphere and the wooden interior, the place's atmosphere is comfortable, inviting and fun. It does get busy in there, especially since they're very involved with the local community. Lastly, the location is fantastic. It's adjacent to West Newton Square, just a hundred yards from 90 and there's a good amount of street parking in that area, along with a public lot across the street. Just make sure you have quarters, and you'll be all set.

I've been to Paddys many times but I came in last night for the first time in quite a while. We were actually surprised to find we had a short wait but didn't mind since we were able to enjoy the live Irish music until our table was ready. My mother and I had the chicken pot pie served with cranberry sauce and as always the meal was amazing! For dessert we shared the carrot cake which was also delicious! We'll definitely be coming back again soon!

As a local I've been going to Paddy's for years. Have always loved the atmosphere, bartenders, and owners when I've seen them. Great beer selection with rotating taps. Overall a solid pub with good food. But lately I feel like their food has declined a bit. I've gone there twice in the past couple of weeks with friends and we all thought the vegetables were frozen (perfectly cut carrots, peas in the Shepards pie) and the broccoli had that watery frozen taste. And the biggest disappointment was the fact that they took off the veggie burger from their menu! So for us vegetarians their menu is limited unless you want eggplant parm or salad. I don't know, maybe they have a new chef--maybe it was an off nite, but I'm hoping they bring back a veggie burger or veggie chili or black bean salad etc. Their veggie burger was one of the best around. Totally bummed. So I'll continue to go but have changed my expectation for their food--great place for drinks and some apps, not necessarily dinner for me.

I've been to Paddy's many times but felt compelled to write after my most recent visit. We were there with a big group -- including a whole bunch of young children -- during an official pub crawl sponsored by Paddy's and two other local bars. The place was packed when we walked in, but the manager (owner?) immediately offered to clear out two booths for our kids to sit and color while the grownups enjoyed a drink before heading to the next stop on the crawl. So on a very busy day, Paddy's gives up prime booth space -- and hands out paper, crayons, and bread -- to a bunch of kids who aren't ordering anything ... just to make their parents' lives a little easier. Warmth, friendliness, and accommodation -- to me, those are signs of a true Irish pub.

Decided to go to Paddy's one Thursday night to get in a good meal before Thirstday drinking. The most important thing I can say about Paddy's is that the owners/servers are actually Irish and they are the sweetest people. My boyfriend ordered the chicken pot pie because that's what we had dog-earred this place for in the first place and I asked our waitress if she would recommend the shepherd's pie or the seasonal beef stew. She said the beef stew because it's made fresh every day versus the pie which is a regular on the menu and the vegetables used are frozen; I appreciated the honesty. The service there is impeccable. I embarrassingly knocked over my beer when I was moving the plates around to make room (clumsy elbow) and the staff there didn't even bat an eye. After all my apologizing, our waitress said a consoling "I'm just glad it happened now instead of later in the night." They even replaced my beer without charging me extra for it which was really nice. As far as food goes, the stew was a little salty for my liking but pairing my leftovers with some white rice really helped tone down the saltiness. The chicken pot pie is as good as people say it is plus I'm a sucker for a bread bowl.

One of the great things about living in the Newton area is the wonderful selection of pubs. Paddy's is most definitely on the list of go to places. There are many good things and a few things that need a bit of TLC. 1. Atmosphere is perfect. Do not fool with it. 2. The menu is wonderful but watch the ordering since portions are generous. The onion rings are home made and killer. Pizzas are great with a perfect crust and generous toppings. 3. These folks do a top flight job keeping the orders coming. The troops in the kitchen must be working at light speed. Some things need a touch of attention: They pour a weak scotch which given the price is a draw back. While most of the staff are great the bartenders are much less on the ball. If you walk in and it seems packed do not leave. They will get you seated PDQ.

Been coming here for years with the family and it is still one if my faves. We almost always get the same thing. It's the best in metro west Boston. They have the best wings and calamari. Love this place. I'm a sucker for solid pub food and this place has it. They add just the right amount of flair in their array of classic pub dishes (Guinness- steamed pastrami mmm) They could use a bit more beer options in my opinion, but the food and cozy atmosphere are the real reason I frequent this joint.

This place has an awesome cozy/homey feel. It was the perfect place for dinner on a dreary weeknight. The bar was decently busy and the dining room well, let's face it I think my friend (shout out to Laura T.) and I were the only ones in there that were under 45. We went to dinner around six maybe that was just the earlier crowd. Our waitress was quite friendly, she let us takes our time with the menus, and helped us narrow down a few things. The nachos were great! They layer the cheese in between each chip layer so when you get to the center of the nacho place you still have a great selection of cheesy nachos to choose from. Why all restaurants don't do this is beyond me. Also got the Caesar Salad pizza; I liked it, my friend was not such a big fan. They did go a little heavy on the dressing, if I got it again I would just request for them to go light on the dressing.

Food was fresh and very tasty. The only negative is that my side was cold. My friend had the Irish Countryside Shepherd's Pie and said it was very good. Nice cold weather meal. Great beer selection and it seemed to be quite the local gathering place to grab a good meal and good conversation.

Great food. The have a Beef Stew that is awesome. Big chucks of beef along with a savory gravy. Perfect for these cold winter months. Paddy's have spicy hot Buffalo wings as well which are not gummy or rubbery. Great Beer selections and the bartenders are very cool there. I am not a regular but that will soon change. I am going back for the beef stew!

very hometown feel. highly recommend the rachel turkey sandwich. staff is attentive and nice. had to wait 25 mins for a table on a saturday night, but not their fault... very few places to sit in west newton. wine list is short but surprisingly good (e.g, agua de piedra malbec). this place is a staple.

Holy crap...this place is PHENOMENAL. The chowder was out of this world good. The service was top notch (even when it was busy). The deep cherrywood colors and low lights were great for the atmosphere. The Reuben was so good, it made me want to poop myself. The prices were insanely cheap, especially for the quality of the food. The beer selection was out of this world, AND they serve Bushy's black. I didn't try the wings, but I did smell them - the smelled awesome.

Paddy's is one of those places you go to when you are craving a good sandwich and soup. There specials are usually out of this world, and their mussel's are the best I've ever had. In fact they're a meal onto themselves, just ask for extra roles! The bar tender Cindy will get to know you within 1-2 visits and is always good for a chat. If you want to go there for dinner just plan a few minutes ahead. There is NO bad meal on that menu and it's not a secret to the locals. Recommended highly: portugese mussel's, beef stew, chicken pot pie and the steak tips.

I loved Paddy's for years. I used to live around the corner. I took my friends, my family, and my coworkers there, everybody always had an excellent experience. The owner knew me by name, and I felt like some of the waitresses were actually friends. I went again not too long ago. It had been about 6 months between visits, and I was super pumped to have their delicious reuben. Not only was my sandwich soggy and cold, the bartender left it on the check even AFTER we had a pleasant conversation about what a crappy reuben it was. I was aghast, and contacted them through the website. I've still received no response. _________EDITED TO ADD___________ After posting this Yelp review, I was contacted by Paddy's manager, who informed me that, because of my input, they had tested and corrected their reuben issue! I'm happy that they've solved the problem, and even happier that they messaged me directly. During my years spent as a regular, I was always given the utmost in service, and it's a comfort to know that their dedication to their customers remains unchanged.

I have walked by this bar countless times on my way to Blue Ribbon BBQ and never even thought to look at a menu online or check out Yelp reviews. I finally realized my stupidity when I ate dinner at O'Hara's in Newton Highlands only to find out that Paddy's and O'Hara's are sister restaurants with identical regular AND gluten free menus. Paddy's is slightly smaller than O'Hara's and just as crowded with young people and older folks alike. We arrived as a group of 11 right at 6pm on Saturday night and despite a long line of folks waiting we ended up being seated in less than 20 minutes. The host and server were great and there were no mistakes with any of the 11 orders. I had the special breaded pork chops which were delicious and the wife had the gluten free chicken parm which she is still raving about. Not one person disliked their food and the whole bill for 11 people plus drinks came to $175 which is ridiculously cheap. Paddy's is highly recommended and they have a really good gluten free menu with plenty of options besides salads and burgers sans buns.

I'm a big fan of this place. I've been here three times, and every experience has been really great. The service was prompt and friendly, the drinks were tasty and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was perfect - just a great, local pub. The best part about Paddy's is the food. I've had a burger and a pasta dish from their menu, and both were delicious. This is my go-to spot in Newton to take people. :)

We used yelp and found this great pub in W Newton. Friendly servers. Great atmosphere. We went for lunch had quick service fantastic authentic clam chowder. Wonderful fish and chips and a great burger. We live in Saugus but will happily drive back. Lots of delicious looking specials.
